CMI Research Space Guide
Research Space Allocation
To improve the research environment and promote research activity, the Department of Research and Experiment operates and supports research spaces in the form of Wet Labs and Dry Labs. A Wet Lab is an experiment-oriented space equipped with laboratory benches and instruments, while a Dry Lab is a documentation-oriented research space that uses computers and data.
Researchers who wish to be assigned a research space must submit an application and the related supporting documents within the application period, and the assignment is decided after review by the Operating Committee of the Institute of Translational Medicine. An assigned research space may be reclaimed if its usage record is poor.
Eligibility
- Eligibility is limited to those appointed at Seoul National University Hospital as adjunct faculty, clinical professor personnel (funded professors and non-funded professors), or convergence medicine professor personnel (job categories specified in Article 18 of the Hospital Organization Regulations). (Bundang, Boramae, and Gangnam Center are excluded.)
- Clinical care professors and research professors cannot apply individually; they may apply jointly with a clinical professor.
- New faculty: non-funded clinical professors and above may apply (research professors and clinical care professors excluded). Within two years of first appointment as of the bench assignment date, they are evaluated separately for the purpose of research support and promotion, and upon bench assignment a 50% usage fee is applied to only one bench.

Eligibility
- The principal investigator (clinical professor) must have been allocated a research bench at the Medical Research Innovation Center (CMI) and be conducting research activities there.
- As a rule, the professor must work full-time at the Medical Research Innovation Center (CMI).
- After assignment, the office will be reclaimed if it is transferred to another researcher or if its usage record is poor.

Additional Researcher Desk Allocation
Additional desks are allocated to research clinical instructors and resident researchers of clinical professors who have been assigned a Wet Lab at the Medical Research Innovation Center (CMI).
Assignment Criteria
- Assigned in consideration of the distance from the allocated research bench.
- Additional desks are assigned when the number of resident researchers exceeds the number of allocated benches (except for those assigned a research professor office).
- Applications within 50% of the number of allocated research benches are given priority consideration for assignment.
- If the applying researcher does not use the desk personally or uses it for another purpose, it will be reclaimed immediately.
