| Features | The VITEK® MS PRIME is an innovative MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry system that takes automated microbial identification to a new level. Whereas conventional biochemical methods of identifying microorganisms were costly and time-consuming, the VITEK® MS PRIME uses dedicated slides and powerful laser irradiation to rapidly analyze the protein profiles of various microorganisms and fungi and compare them against a database for efficient identification. It employs a continuous-slide format that can test 768 specimens at once and can identify more than 47,000 microbial species within minutes through a dedicated database server. It is an efficient instrument with the advantage of quickly and accurately identifying, via the MALDI-TOF method, strains that were previously difficult to isolate, including general, environmental, and pathogenic microorganisms as well as fungi. |
