Special Instruments Laboratory (Special Instrument Core Facility) - A research platform that analyzes the biological phenomena occurring within tissues as spatial protein information (spatial proteomics)
The Special Instruments Laboratory of the Department of Research and Experiment operates the MACSima spatial proteomics imaging analysis system from Miltenyi Biotec (Germany), introduced for the first time in Korea. Through this system, it precisely analyzes the spatial distribution of proteins expressed within tissues and cells as well as cell-to-cell interactions, and provides the results as data.
Based on MACSima Imaging Cyclic Staining (MICS) technology, the MACSima system performs repeated cycles of staining, imaging, and fluorescence removal, providing multiplex imaging that can analyze approximately 100 protein markers in a single tissue.
In addition, by using enzymatic deletion–based fluorescence removal technology, it minimizes autofluorescence and enables the acquisition of high-quality spatial protein images.
Using the recently upgraded RNAsky detection probes (IO Explore Panel, Human), the laboratory provides experimental design consulting, equipment utilization support, and data analysis training for spatial biology research including transcriptomics, helping researchers understand the complex biological phenomena occurring at the tissue level within their spatial context.
